Statement of Purpose for Graduate School
This is my statement of purpose for applying Master of Business Administration in George Mason University. I am Minni Song, who graduated in Guangdong University of Technology in China, majoring in International Economic and Trade. In the past 5 years, I have been working as a Public Relationship Manager in an international company named Hong Kong Megastar Holding Limited, which owes more than 500 employees in China and several branches around the world. Furthermore, I have been studying Academic English and pathway in George Mason University for one year and a half, at the same time, I work as a Human Resource assistant at school. Based on the knowledge from all I studied, and the global working experiences from the high management, and the American working experiences relating to business, I am ambitious and ready to chase the higher education, like graduate study of Business Administration in George Mason University.
As a sophisticated business woman, I have a lot of strengths in this field. For instance, first, I have obtained unique cutting edge, marketing abilities and abundant business sources throughout the entire world. Particularly, I had the honor to participate in the company’s operations by witnessing and assisting senior management, which required my strong determination to further my study in business. Second, my wide range of working knowledge and math talent guided me to conduct all kinds of work fluently. My advanced experiences of team spirit, communication, customer service, and mature skills of Microsoft Office, Dreamweaver and Photoshop enriched me to accomplish complex achievements. Therefore, owning these relating capabilities assist me can learn the graduate knowledge fast. Finally, I am an active people who have also experienced numbers of working fields in United States, such as Chinese-English interpreter, orientation leader, life tutor and so on. However, the most important position for me is Human Resource assistant, which enhance my adaptation of American working styles, and broaden my horizon in business field, especially, these working experiences can pave my road for my future full-time degree pursuit.
However, as a student coming from the foreign country, I have several weaknesses as well. For example, first, although I am skilled in Mandarin and Cantonese which are the only two official languages in China, English fluency is the biggest challenge for me. However, through studying in INTO Mason for almost 2 years, I conducted a further progress on it and I am getting more and more fluently when communicating with people. In my future graduate study, I am confident that I will learn more and practice more in order to improve my English proficiency. Second, in spite of trying my best to learn the American living styles here, the local culture and manners are different from where I came from. Nevertheless, I am open minded to learn the environments around me, and be part of it. In my future study, I have opportunities to interact to all kinds of people, I will be more and more adapt the local culture here.
In my future plan, after finishing my Master of Business Administration study, I will apply some jobs from top 500 companies in the world to gain the global working experiences. After building the network and absorb the knowledge I can learn from work, I will start my own business in the field I am interested. Eventually, I will establish an organization to help the people from the third world after I have the abilities and fund.
To choose George Mason University, I appreciate what they have been taught me along the way that I have been in United States, and help me adopt the new life here. Besides, this is a excellent school having the affluent business network and strong teaching background, which impressed me a lot. Last but not least, to study here offers me greatly geographic advantages which are the government networks, business atmospheres, business resources and so on.
To sum up, I would like to state that if I could be accepted in to your university, I would perform my best and hope to acquire the skills that help me fulfill my dream. I would like to take this chance to thank you for enabling me to express myself.
